California Street Farm CSA – 2024
CSA – What is it? CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) is a farming model that directly connects consumers to local farmers, ensuring the farmers get the highest proportion of profit back for all their hard work. By purchasing a California Street Farm CSA share, you are joining a community of like-minded eaters investing in local, sustainable agriculture and a small woman-owned business. Why you might like it? You will receive a beautiful box of high quality, chemical free produce grown right in NE Minneapolis weekly (or biweekly). You will be invited to farm events such as volunteer days, weeding parties, and potlucks. You will be able to come to the farm whenever you want to get your hands dirty and hang out with pollinators. You will have influence, meaning you can give feedback about your CSA experience and we will listen. You will know exactly where your vegetables come from and you will be strengthening your local economy. Why the farmer likes it? The CSA model creates more stability for Elyssa as the farmer. It brings money into the farm in late winter/early spring when she really needs it because she's purchasing things to get the season going, like seeds, potting soil, compost, and equipment. Also, the CSA model brings the farmer and the vegetable eaters closer together in a community of support. It gives the farmer more flexibility and the consumer more agency because there is a real live relationship with commitment, communication, and understanding.
